Hypnosis to Stop Smoking
My interest in hypnosis actually began when my mother, a smoker of 35 years, finally kicked the habit. She had
tried everything from accupuncture to nicotine patches to nicotine gum.
A friend dragged her to a seminar where 200 other people were attendees. She sat in a chair like everyone else
and listened to the hypnotist who sat onstage. When he was done he polled the audience to see how long everyone
thought they had been 'under.' The majority of participants thought they had been listening for approximately 15-20
minutes. In reality, the hypnotist had been talking and making suggestions to their subconscious for close to an
hour!
My mother has not touched another cigarette now for 19 years.
In reality, undergoing hypnosis for smoking cessation doesn't have to take an hour of your time each day. You
can listen to a 20 minute program over the course of a few weeks. Whatever the time frame, it's hard to argue that
it isn't a worthwhile investment.
Despite the way hypnosis is often portrayed on stage or in the media, hypnosis cannot make anyone do anything
they do not wish to do. For this reason it is ill advised to embark on a hypnosis program to quit smoking if you
are not truly ready to quit. If deep down you believe this is just another program that probably won't work, your
doubts can sabotage your success.
If you do have doubts, all is not lost though! There are a number of hypnosis programs you can follow as a
pre-cursor to quit smoking hypnosis. These programs would focus on positive thinking to replace any negative
thinking that might inhibit you from quitting smoking even if you want to. It would entail visualizing yourself as
a non smoker and engaging in the opportunities that not smoking will present to you. You will focus on the kind of
renewal you will experience as a healthier smoke-free, nicotine-free person, and the positive effects it will have
on your life.
Once these positive thoughts have replaced the self limiting thoughts in your subconscious, you will be ready to
work on giving up your smoking habit. Your desire to smoke is both mental and physical and has probably grown
stronger each year that you have been a smoker. Your nicotine addiction has taken control of you and any number of
triggers can stimulate your desire to light up.
Hypnosis takes control of these connections and addictions and eliminates the mindset that keeps you wanting to
smoke. Your subconscious is very powerful and if you don't start deep within your mind to end the addiction to
smoking you will find the results of success are much harder to achieve and may not last for the long term.
It's never too late to take advantage of the many benefits a hypnosis to stop smoking program can provide for
you. It's never too late to move toward a healthier, longer, life! See our reviews for Weight Loss Hypnosis Programs Here
